Notes
Marguerite Beck-Rex was a reporter and columnist for Sun Newspapers in Ohio, where her weekly column covered a variety of women’s issues. When the sport’s editor noted that no one was covering women’s sports she volunteered to take that on. This led to her joining the Sports Project Referral and Information Network to Achieve Educational Equality (SPRINT). SPRINT was dedicated to promoting and informing women in sports, and provided several services including a hotline for questions about Title IX, and the In the Running newsletter which Ms. Beck-Rex edited.
